Wendy came to trauma therapy as a second career, after twenty years in education. That history shows in how she works: she explains what's happening and why, teaches skills rather than just applying techniques, and treats understanding as part of healing.
As a clinician within Seattle Trauma Counseling, she is committed to providing a safe, gentle, and body-based path to recovery from the lasting impacts of childhood trauma and emotional harm.

Complex trauma is often subtle and confusing, because our caregivers were also sources of harm. This can lead to a lifelong legacy of depression, anxiety, self-doubt, unstable relationships, and substance abuse, symptoms which often function as forms of dissociation, the body's way of protecting itself. You don't need to recall a specific incident to be profoundly affected. The symptoms are real, and healing is possible.

Wendy is a Level II Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner and a certified Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment practitioner, modalities founded by Dr. Pat Ogden and Dr. Janina Fisher respectively. She also holds extensive training from the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.
In practice, she helps clients gently track body sensations, understand trauma-based survival parts, and build internal stability so that dissociation and traumatic memories can be processed safely, at each client's own pace.
Wendy works with adults recovering from narcissistic and emotional abuse, the kind of harm that rarely leaves visible marks and often leaves you doubting your own memory of it. She also works with betrayal trauma, when the person who hurt you was the person you most needed to trust. Both patterns respond to the same careful, stabilization-first approach she brings to all complex trauma: safety before processing, and your pace throughout.

Wendy specializes in complex trauma, dissociative disorders, narcissistic abuse recovery, and betrayal trauma. She is a Level II Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner, a certified TIST practitioner trained by the model's creator Dr. Janina Fisher, and holds extensive training from the ISSTD.
TIST is an approach developed by Dr. Janina Fisher for complex trauma and dissociation. It works with the survival parts that trauma creates, building internal stability and safety first, so that traumatic material can be processed without overwhelming the nervous system. Wendy is certified in TIST and trained directly under Dr. Fisher.
