Seattle Trauma Counseling's Edmonds office sits just north of Shoreline, across the county line, so trauma therapy for people living in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park is a short drive away.
Sessions are also available online anywhere in Washington, and many clients move between the two.
We offer somatic, body-based therapy for trauma and PTSD, childhood and attachment trauma, anxiety and panic and dissociation, for adults 18 and over. You don't need to know which method you need before you reach out, that's what the free consultation is for.
For a lot of people in Shoreline, the Edmonds office ends up being the right distance. It's close enough that a weekly appointment fits around work and family, and far enough that you're unlikely to run into a neighbor on the way in, which matters more than people expect when the work is personal.
The office is a short drive from Richmond Beach, Echo Lake, Ridgecrest, North City, Ballinger and the neighborhoods around Aurora Avenue, as well as from Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and north Seattle around Northgate. If you're closer to the Eastside, our Kirkland office is the other in-person option.

Many people who contact us aren't in crisis. They're working, raising kids or caring for parents, and noticing that something hasn't settled: sleep that stays light, a startle that's out of proportion, a relationship that keeps hitting the same wall, or a past they understand perfectly well but still react to. That gap between knowing and feeling is where somatic therapy tends to help, because it works with how the nervous system responds now rather than only with the story of what happened.
We treat PTSD from a single event such as an accident, assault or medical emergency, and complex PTSD that built up over years. We also work with religious trauma, sexual trauma, recovery from narcissistic and emotional abuse, traumatic grief, dissociative identity disorder and couples affected by trauma.
Treatment is usually phase-based. Some people start with stabilization, learning what tips them into overdrive or shutdown and building ways back to the present before any direct work on the past. Others are ready to begin processing sooner. The pace follows your nervous system, not a fixed number of sessions.
Depending on what fits, your therapist may use EMDR, Brainspotting, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Lifespan Integration or Trauma Release Exercises, and will explain what each involves before you try it. For people who want to move faster, we also offer therapy intensives.
The office is at 8923 240th St SW in Edmonds, a short drive north of Shoreline. Aurora Avenue and I-5 both run north from Shoreline toward it, and the Get Directions link on the Edmonds office page opens the exact location in Google Maps.
Sessions are by appointment, and we confirm arrival details when you book. If the drive doesn't suit a particular week, online sessions across Washington are a full alternative rather than a second-best one.

No. Somatic approaches work with how your body and nervous system respond now, so you can make progress without retelling every detail. You decide what you share and when.
It's a conversation with a trauma specialist about what's happening for you and whether our approach fits. There's no commitment, and you don't need to choose a method or a therapist beforehand.
If you're in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time of day. Therapy is not an emergency service.
